Mother's Day Tea Party

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful Mommy's out there!!  I  can't believe that we just had our Mother's Day Tea Party today!  My students were really looking forward to this day and couldn't wait to have their Mommy's come in to our classroom to have a special tea party just for them.  Here are a a few pictures of our Tea Party!
These are our placemats for our Tea Party.  We fingerprinted a piece of construction paper and when they were dry we glued a teapot pattern in the middle with a heart.  These were laminated and ready for the tea party!
I wanted to have something outside of our classroom for all the Mommy's to read while they waited outside our door and we wrote about our Mom's on an IMom writing paper.
I thought it would be cute for my students to write about their mom's on a iPhone paper, since many of our Mommy's have cool cellphones.;)
When I opened the door, each student gave their Mom a flower and escorted them to their seat. (I didn't get to take a picture of this part...so sorry!) They sang 2 songs and then we got watched our Mother's Day Slide Show.
My students shared their Mother's Day gifts while they waited for their turn to get some refreshments and goodies to eat.
Thankfully my hubby was nice enough to help me out with the Tea Party and was the photographer for the day.  I'm not normally in the pictures when we have celebrations, since I am the one taking all the pictures...but he was able to capture at least a few pictures of me, heehee.
Towards the end of our Tea Party, I took pictures of my students with their Mommy's.  I can't wait to put these in their memory book.  This was one of my favorite celebrations that we have had this school year.  I really enjoyed doing this for my students and their Mom's.  I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!:)

Mother's Day Gifts

Have you seen those adorable Mother's Day mason jars gifts!?  I've been seeing them a lot on Pinterest and I couldn't resist, so I went to Walmart and bought the mason jars and acrylic paint.
Since it was my first time doing this, I had to do a test run and try it myself at home.  Just to make sure that there wouldn't be a total mess in the classroom and especially get paint on the carpet, ahhh!
We did this as a whole group and I modeled how to hold the jar and turn it so that the paint would slowly drip on the sides.  I made sure to explain not to hold it upside down or else the paint would fall straight to the ground.  This took a lot of patience, but they did a very good job with taking their time.
It took about 2 days for the inside to dry and once they were dry I started to paint their handprint on their jar.  Amazingly the handprint dried really fast!
After the mason jars were done, I kept thinking about what I wanted to put inside it...real flowers, tissue paper flowers, coffee filter flowers, fake flowers...there were just too many options to choose from.
So I thought making paper flowers on popsicle sticks would be super cute if I added a picture of them to one of the flowers.
My students wanted to help and they made their flowers for their mason jar.We added some leaves and ribbon.  They turned out so cute!
We also made Mother's Day cards and they picked their favorite Spring foam shapes to put on their cards.
We made our Mother's Day plates from MakIt!
I forgot to take pictures of the plates, and my aide had already wrapped them up with wrapping paper. ...but they did turn out adorable.
I found such a cute idea at the Soaring through Second Blog, where each kiddo finished the sentence 'I love you because __.'  I just had to try that cute idea and took pictures of my students and they decorated a foam picture frame with foam shapes.
We made a book about our Mom's and the student's wrote about what their mom likes to eat, is good at, helps them with, and why they love their mom.
The last things we made were a coupon book and 'My Mom and Me' booklet. I found both on Teachers Pay Teachers! Click on the words to go directly to the product.:)
I bought some colorful paper bags at Michaels and put all of their gifts inside the bag.
I can't wait for our Mother's Day Tea Party!:)

Getting Ready for Our Mother's Day Tea Party

We are getting ready for our Mother's Day Tea Party!  Over our Spring Break, I worked on our invitations.
When we returned back from our Spring Break, my students made an invitation for their Mom's and inside it had our Tea Party information.  We sent both of the invitations on the same day!
Last weekend, I worked on our decorations...
I spent a whole day shopping for things that I could use for our tea party and I think I may have over did it as usual, lol.
I couldn't help myself but I ended up buying everything and anything that looked colorful and would go with my theme.
My friend Sweetp helped me make paper tissue flowers, to use as part of the decor.  I found this cute welcome mat at the 99 cent store and thought...'Hey that would look cute to put with a wreath outside of our classroom door!'
Over the weekend I worked on our Mother's Day Powerpoint Slide Show.  I asked my students' families to email me a picture to put in our slideshow and my students shared what they love about their mom.  Sweetp also showed me how to make a mesh wreath.  I told her that I wanted to make it colorful and this is what we came up with.  She thought the rabbit would look cute, since the white rabbit appears a lot in the movie.
Here is a peek of a few files that are in my Alice in Wonderland Tea Party Packet that I made.

Our tea party is on May 9th...I'm crossing my fingers that everything goes well.  I have put up my Alice in Wonderland Tea Party and Mother's Day Powerpoint on my TpT store.
